IN CASE YOU MISSED THIS ON CNN (I discovered that I did as I began researching this tragedy)–Here is Anderson Cooper’s interview with Stella Carlson, the “pink coat lady”, who captured the shooting of Alex Pretti by DHS agents on her phone. As a caution, the beginning of this interview does contain verbal descriptions which may cause unease.

Looking Out for Each Other
Contributed by Kirk Pate
Minnesotans across races and origins, faiths and genders, are demonstrating that the brave among us stand with and for each other. But this cowardly Trump/MAGA regime has escalated its attacks, assaulting families in the streets, invading homes, kidnapping children, and now killing Alex Pretti and Renee Good as they were looking out for their neighbors. Their end game is clear: they want to control and silence us, even demanding voting rolls, yes, Texas's voting rolls, so they can remain in power by "nationalizing elections", no matter the will of the people. Through it all, ordinary Minnesotans are showing how we free America by organizing mutual aid for families forced into hiding, standing guard on streets, and turning out in the thousands until all masked militia are removed from our communities and we make ours a government of, by, and for the people.

DURING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY, WE CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Black History Month marks a time to celebrate the accomplishments of the Black community and also to remind us that the fight for fairness and opportunity is not over. It is a time to honor the past, but also to remember the challenges still remaining today, even here in Fayette County. We refuse to forget these past and current struggles, even as the Trump administration works to erase them.

FCDP IN OUR COMMUNITY
"RELAY FOR LIFE"
HELPS FIGHT CANCER
Contributed by Becky Snyder
I have said “representation matters” to the school board many times as it relates to characters, authors, and stories. It matters in our community, too. We do great work promoting the Democratic Party in Fayette County, not just at party events but at Trick or Treat on the Square and Smeckenfest. Our neighbors who are apolitical or GOP need to see that we are vested members of our community and want to work for the good of everyone. Two years ago, Annette stepped up to head a Relay for Life team for the party. I was team captain last year. This event raises funds and promotes awareness about cancer causes and treatment. It was nice to have so many members of our party support with donations or as team members. I think all involved that evening would agree that it is a worthwhile event. Plus, we were there representing our party. The more others see us as their neighbors who share many of the same hopes and fears, the easier it is to find common ground in this crazy world.
While I can’t be the captain this year, I will be available to give support to someone taking on the role. This year’s event will be on April 18th. If you are interested, I can send you more details as well. (beckysnyder.tx@gmail.com)
Cancer has touched each of our lives. Gathering with others who have been on similar journeys has helped me so much over the years. I hope you will consider taking on this role and allowing our FCDP group to continue to represent at this important event.
